The leading UK charity that cares for, connects with and campaigns on behalf of all people affected by and at risk of diabetes. Diabetes UK offers support through many services, including a helpline, local support groups, events, and more.

Steps is a charity that gives support and information to empower everyone affected by all lower limb conditions. They don’t take walking for granted!

Reach has a number of branches in various parts of the country which gives families the opportunity to meet locally. Reach publishes a newsletter ‘Within Reach’ which provides a regular means of communication to all members’ families.

Limbless Association provides information, advice and support for people of all ages who are without one or more limbs. It has a nationwide network of volunteer visitors (within the UK) who are all amputees themselves, offering support and encouragement to prospective amputees, carers and those already trying to come to terms with limb loss or deficiency.

The Douglas Bader Foundation was formed in honour of Sir Douglas Bader in 1982 by family and friends – many of whom had flown side by side with Douglas during World War 2. Douglas was honoured in 1976 with a Knighthood for his contribution and work on behalf of the disabled. The mission of the foundation at its inception and today, is to continue Douglas’ work in conjunction with and on behalf of individuals with a disability.

Blesma is a national charity, registered charity number 1084189 for limbless and ex-service men and women, their dependants and widows. The objectives of the association are to promote the welfare of all those of either sex who have lost a limb or limbs, or one or both eyes, or the use of limbs as a result of service in any branch of Her Majesty’s Forces or Auxiliary Forces and to assist needy dependants of such service limbless.

LimbPower is a National Disability Sports Organisation that helps amputees and those with limb impairments engage in physical activity. Limbformation – one of the strands of LimbPower – was created to offer support for families, and to organise events that can help young people and children with limb difference get into sport.

Limbcare is a charity offering hope, advice and peer support to amputee/limb impaired individuals, communities, families and others impacted around them. We are in the process of raising funds with the intent of developing a contact centre, enabling independence, help and support. We also envisage the centre will increase the charity’s profile with companies and trusts who may offer further corporate financial assistance. We are currently collating resources to assist the well-being of limb impaired people and regularly meet with local voluntary service agencies to broaden horizons within NHS Trusts, enhancing ways in which vital information may be accessed by those searching for it. MND Association provides support for those affected by motor neurone disease and Kennedy’s disease. Services include a helpline, as well as benefits advice, equipment loans and support grants.

Legs4Africa is a charity that recycles prosthetic legs which would otherwise end up in landfill, and distributes them across many parts of Africa to those in need.

Disabled Living Foundation is a national charity providing impartial advice, information and training on equipment and solutions for independent living.

The Motability Scheme provides help with exchanging your mobility allowance for a car, mobility scooter, powered wheelchair or Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV). This scheme gives those in need more freedom and independence.

Parkinson’s UK is a charity that raises awareness and funds ground-breaking research, as well as provides services and support for those who have been affected by Parkinson’s disease.

The UK’s biggest Multiple Sclerosis charity that provides research, as well as fundraising and campaigning, to stop MS. MS Society helps people live their lives to the full.
